LED Lights for
optimized growth
of tomatoes

Tomato

Science and industry tests report that greenhouse tomatoes perform best under relatively high light intensities and long photoperiods of about 14-20 hours. Light quality is also a very important aspect for tomato development, and a full red-based LED spectrum have been proven to significantly increase yields, but there are a few other options to consider depending upon growth climate. A relatively large proportion of red light in the broad spectrum promotes higher yields and sometimes a multi-spectra far-red light module is considered. We also work with gradual replacements from the outdated HPS lights into LED with specific hybrid cases to enable a smooth transition to LED light with an optimal cost structure. Let us help to guide you in your choices. Our products are designed to for a best-in-class solution in terms of duration, light levels, and energy efficiency. You would have a hard time to find Top light with better thermal cooling conditions and this is what is central for high crop productivity of tomatoes with low energy consumption. We even offer reusable aluminium cases for our most demanding CO2 and sustainability customers. Do you want to be an industry leader? We do science to move with the end user of tomatoes.

The right LED spectrum can create substantially better growth results with lower energy consumptions. A long list of studies also where our LED chips have been included investigated the energy demand for greenhouses in varying climates and what is the consequence when replacing HPS with LED lighting. For example, results show that greenhouses from Chengdu, China in the south to Kiruna, Sweden in the north, showed that a 40% decrease in energy input from lighting when transitioning to LEDs. Because of the loss of radiant heat from the HPS lights the LED greenhouses required more heating, especially in the winter. But when the total energy consumption was calculated, the report concluded that the predicted energy savings from a transition to LEDs still would be 10-25%. When optimizing the growth conditions, higher numbers are reached.
